  • The Corpus Christi Police Foundation has released its 2026 100 Club decal to fund training, technology and tools that the city budget does not cover.  KIII-TV

CULTURE NEWS

  • Corpus Christi will host the Buc Days Rodeo Concert Series featuring The Marshall Tucker Band on May 5—tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Jan. 16 for $25, which include access to both the concert and rodeo.  Caller Times
  • Corpus Christi's annual mullet contest sees a big turnover as the style makes a huge comeback this week — local organizers plan to refresh the traditional event with new energy.  KIII-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Roland Hernandez addressed the closure and rezoning of seven CCISD campuses starting this August — new bus routes and family support details will be shared soon.  KIII-TV
  • The NCJLS-Young Herdsmen has opened a new study shed in Robstown that is available from 11 am to 4 pm this week, giving students a quiet place to do schoolwork while balancing livestock duties during the show.  KRIS 6 News

  • Corpus Christi officials warned Tuesday that water supplies were tight as lake levels fell and rainfall stayed below normal — the city will rely on conservation until the delayed Evangeline Groundwater Project becomes operational.  KRIS 6 News
  • Flour Bluff neighbors are organizing after recent fires as city officials confirmed that funding for abatement and demolition was eliminated, leaving the community to tackle concerns about neglected properties.  KIII-TV
  • City council approved $1 million in funding for Palo Verde senior apartments, which will add 80 affordable units for income-qualified seniors. The project will soon provide needed housing for local seniors.  KIII-TV
  • A new advisory committee (made up of scientists, business leaders, and conservationists) was selected to study the city's proposed Inner Harbor Desal Plant and guide its design.  KIII-TV
  • Court administrators announced that trained therapists will be available at Nueces County courts to support jurors dealing with emotional strain from high-profile cases.  KIII-TV
  • City officials on Jan. 13 authorized a 30-year deal with Valero to use up to 3 million gallons per day of treated wastewater for cooling towers for the coming years — a project that will add infrastructure upgrades to ease water demand while planning for minor increases in customer bills.  Caller Times
