COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Robstown held its first Town Talk & Tea event on Wednesday evening at City Hall to discuss emergency preparedness and community concerns. Mayor Mary Ann Saenz, fire chief Javier Zapata, council members, and residents gathered to engage in monthly discussions, with each meeting to focus on a different city department.  Action 10 News
  • Expectant and new moms can pick up free diapers and baby supplies and learn about prenatal care at the Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby Community Resource Fair; hosted by the Success By 6 Early Childhood Coalition, the event will run Saturday, Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club (3902 Greenwood Drive).  KRIS 6 News
  • A new helicopter monument honoring Coastal Bend veterans was unveiled today at Sherrill Park + city leaders say it is part of a broader effort to upgrade the park.  KIII-TV
  • Robstown ISD's Cotton Closet offers free clothing, shoes, hygiene products & school supplies to students, families & staff in need. The program, started in 2019, helps local and rural residents access essential items and welcomes donations or inquiries.  KRIS 6 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local Girl Scouts in Corpus Christi are selling cookies, including a new 'Explore More' flavor, to support local learning and community projects. Cookie season runs through March (helping fund badge supplies, museum trips and service projects) and builds leadership among girls.  KRIS 6 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Corpus Christi officials announced nearly $400,000 will be spent at Bill Witt Aquatic Center to replace grass with artificial turf + add a concrete mow strip and storage unit foundation; work will start on April 1 and finish by the end of April.  KRIS 6 News
  • If a Level 1 water emergency is declared, the city will require a 25% reduction in water use (residents exceeding 7,000 gallons monthly will be charged $4 per 1,000 gallons) and ban watering landscapes and washing vehicles.  Action 10 News
  • Corpus Christi police and fire officials held their first joint mass-casualty training session today (focusing on faster care and improved coordination) to better prepare for emergencies.  KIII-TV
