CULTURE NEWS

  • Veteran artist Ian Manseau turns military burn pit trauma into art at TAMUCC’s Weil Gallery. The exhibition opened Thursday, Mar. 5 (5:00 p.m.) and runs through Mar. 30, featuring ceramic vessels and recycled prints that embody personal sacrifice and transformation.  KRIS 6 News
  • KEDT will host the Food & Wine Classic on Thursday, March 19 at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History with a VIP wine tasting at the Port lobby from 6 to 7:30 p.m.—the event, presented by H-E-B, supports the local PBS and NPR station.  The Bend Magazine

  • Corpus Christi officials updated residents on March 5 that lake water levels are low — they will continue monitoring conditions and share guidelines on water conservation as needed.  KIII-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On March 5, a 60-day burn ban took effect in unincorporated Nueces County and Corpus Christi parks and beaches to reduce wildfire risk ahead of spring break; it prohibits bonfires, outdoor burning, and open flames amid drought conditions.  Caller Times
  • Texas DPS is increasing patrols on roads from March 9‑17 to boost safety during spring break and St. Patrick’s Day while targeting speeding, seat belt, and impaired driving violations. Troopers will join the CARE enforcement campaign to help reduce highway crashes.  Action 10 News
  • Belden Street is closed between N. Tancahua and N. Mesquite streets — the final phase of demolishing the old Harbor Bridge approach is underway. Demolition crews use non-potable water to control dust, and drivers should follow detours via N. Chaparral, E. Port, and N. Tancahua streets for up to 72 hours.  KRIS 6 News
