CULTURE NEWS

  • St. Paddy's Festival 2026 is back in full swing today in Corpus Christi (celebrating Irish traditions with local community events).  KIII-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Lexis Greene reports that gas prices will fluctuate this week in Corpus Christi (drivers may see rapid changes at the pump). The update offers insight on trends that could affect daily commutes.  KIII-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Girl Power returns this Saturday, March 21 at Cunningham Middle School for a free workshop aimed at middle school girls in grades 5–8 and their mentors. The event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and features interactive activities as well as a talk by youth author Ashley Bendiksen.  Action 10 News
  • A celebration of life for VMHS coach and teacher Leyton Hernandez (fatal two-car accident Friday) is planned with a visitation from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Mar. 20 at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Service and a service at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Mar. 21 at Church Unlimited.  KRIS 6 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Corpus Christi Water reported that rain barrel purchases doubled from 55 early in March to 125 later in the week. The city sells the barrels for 47 dollars + tax and limits sales to two per household while supplies last.  KRIS 6 News
  • International Crane Foundation and Conservation Fund acquired 1,150 and 2,232 acres (in Calhoun County) last December to expand winter habitat for whooping cranes. They plan prescribed burns and outreach events to restore the land and boost local eco-tourism.  Caller Times
  • A cold front brought windy conditions that caused power outages in the southern Coastal Bend — affecting areas near Howard Street, Kingsville, Aransas Pass, and Bayside. Crews worked to restore power as the wind advisory was in effect until 11 a.m. Monday.  Action 10 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials said they are waiting for TCEQ permits to start water pumping at the Western Well Field on Ed Rachal property, yet helicopter footage shows water already flowing. City Manager Peter Zanoni said a meeting is scheduled today to work on advancing permit approvals.  KRIS 6 News
