  • Workforce Solutions Coastal Bend hosts the H.I.R.E.S. Job Fair today at Coastal Bend Food Bank, 5442 Bear Lane, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.—local employers will hire on-site while the Vocational Rehabilitation team offers guidance to job seekers including those with disabilities.  KRIS 6 News

  • Rod N Rolls in Robstown installed a reverse osmosis system today to improve water quality for food + drinks and ice amid community concerns while discarding 4 gallons of wastewater per clean gallon.  Action 10 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Three Rivers ISD is exploring drilling a water well to secure water amid shortage concerns after Corpus Christi warned the district might be first affected. Superintendent Les Dragon said a local firm estimated a 200 ft well at about $20,000 — officials now await further options.  KRIS 6 News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Years of drought + rapid industrial growth + local disputes have put Corpus Christi's water system—a lifeline for half a million residents and a key asset for the petrochemical corridor and port—at risk of collapse. Experts warn that immediate action is needed to prevent a wider crisis.  The Texas Tribune
  • Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham, M.D. invites Texans to order the Adopt-A-Beach specialty license plate to support volunteer cleanups & coastal education. Each purchase contributes $22 toward efforts to reduce litter on local beaches during spring, fall, and winter cleanups.  KRIS 6 News
  • Corpus Christi Water reported a surge in rain barrel sales as purchases jumped from 55 to 125 in one week; the city sold the barrels for $47 plus tax and limited each household to two barrels while supplies lasted.  Action 10 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Corpus Christi City Council voted on Tuesday to move ahead with a seawater desalination project by partnering with CPS Energy at the Barney Davis Power Plant in Flour Bluff. The project is separate from the city's Inner Harbor plan and could cost up to $600 million.  KRIS 6 News
  • Builders are reducing water use amid growing supply concerns, and city officials said new home construction will not stop (a measure to balance growth and resource conservation) in Corpus Christi.  KIII-TV
