- ➤ Teens from First Baptist Church in Ardmore traveled 500 miles during spring break to help repair homes in Kingsville and Bishop. The outreach organized with Kings Way Church eased financial burdens for residents like Andrea Puente (the volunteers will return next year to continue their work). KRIS 6 News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A southside apartment complex is accused of asking friends and family to post fake Google reviews after recent crime concerns raised alarms—police records show the property received many calls and management held meetings with officers. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Residents at Caspian Apartments on the Southside awoke to a note from management reporting an attempted break-in—the fifth since December—while police collected DNA, fingerprints, and surveillance images with no arrest made. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ On March 19, CCPD reported that an elderly driver was seen going the wrong way on I-37 near Crosstown Extension just before 11 a.m.—officers later traced the license plate to an address in Taft where the driver was found safe. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Drivers on Airline Road between Wooldridge Road and Holly Road face lane closures as construction began Wednesday and will last until March 28. Corpus Christi Engineering Services is milling and overlaying lanes as part of a rapid-pavement program (aiming to extend pavement life by seven to ten years) and advises drivers to plan for delays. - ➤ Corpus Christi officials have unveiled a revised Drought Contingency Plan—designed to put residents first—to address worsening drought conditions. The plan bans outdoor sprinkler watering between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., limits car washing and pool refilling, and raises the water surcharge threshold to 7,000 gallons per month—violators may face fines up to $500 per violation. - ➤ Corpus Christi Police Department will soon purchase 68 new body cameras after city council approved the funding on Tuesday. The new cameras will bring the department’s total to 448 and are funded with a $106,017 grant ($35,831 cash match and $492 General Fund contribution) to boost transparency and accountability. - ➤ Officials from Nueces County Hospital District are working with lawmakers to get state funding and the power to start a grant program that helps local hospitals recruit and keep doctors in underserved specialties. County commissioners approved the move and state representatives filed bills aimed at expanding local residency programs and graduate medical education. Caller Times

- ➤ Research by TAMUCC and the University of Michigan finds that many elderly in Nueces County may have dementia without knowing it while caretakers face challenges from limited support and long wait times.
