  • Community members gathered on Southside Wednesday for a candlelight vigil to honor Veterans Memorial coach Leyton Hernandez, who was killed in a traffic accident in Temple last Friday (his legacy as a beloved teacher and coach endures as he was also the son of CCISD Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez).  Action 10 News

  • Corpus Christi hosted the 3rd Annual Women Who Rock Celebration at the House of Rock — part of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas’ 40th Ruby Anniversary — to honor local women leaders making a difference along the Coastal Bend.  KIII-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Farmers in Nueces County are planting crops amid bone-dry soil across South Texas & uncertain rain that may not come, putting their livelihoods at risk. The gamble reflects ongoing struggles with drought conditions in the region.  KIII-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting April 1, Texas will restrict SNAP benefits from being used to purchase sweetened beverages and candy, affecting 3.5 million recipients. The law aims to boost healthier food choices and will require retailers to update systems + train staff.  Caller Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Community members are invited to join the Out of the Darkness Walk at TAMU-CC’s Dugan Field today, with registration at 9 a.m. and the walk starting at 9:30 a.m. The event aims to support suicide prevention and break mental health stigma.  KRIS 6 News
  • Corpus Christi inspectors evaluated over 50 restaurants from March 12 to March 18; six scored below 95 while 22 earned perfect scores. Officials reported issues such as mold, sugar ants and improper food storage, with Taqueria La Cabana recording the lowest score of 85.  Caller Times
