  • This weekend the Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party lit up the American Bank Center with roaring engines and thrilling monster truck action. The show brought glowing excitement that delighted many fans.  KIII-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • CCPD arrested two teenagers Saturday at La Palmera Mall (one was in illegal possession of a gun) (further details were not released).  KIII-TV
  • A major vehicle crash left one woman hospitalized with life-threatening injuries and one man in jail for intoxication assault with serious injury.  KIII-TV
  • A 46-year-old man, Stephen Sims, was arrested on March 22 at 11:37 p.m. near South Padre Island Drive & Airline Road after his car ran a red light, hit a cement structure, and injured his 47-year-old female passenger who was rescued and taken to a local hospital, and officers charged him with intoxication assault.  KRIS 6 News

  • The Corpus Christi Caller-Times is asking residents what they believe makes a good job in the Coastal Bend as local governments, schools and economic groups work to boost job opportunities—responses will guide the paper’s investigation.  Caller Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Today, the Caller-Times Student of the Week poll is open until noon on March 27 and features nominees from Calallen and Flour Bluff high schools, selected by Coastal Bend educators for outstanding academics and community service. Nominees include Iliana Lopez (a top-10 senior who volunteers at the public library) and Alyssa Stringer (who excels in sports, art, and school media), with winners to be announced after voting closes.  Caller Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Two local lawmakers introduced Senate Bill 2666 and House Bill 4801—bills that will provide grants for hospital districts to create and fund residency positions—to help address an urgent doctor shortage that nearly cost the area a residency program last fall. Nueces County Hospital District Administrator Jonny Hipp said the shortage may double by 2030 and hopes one of the bills will pass soon.  KIII-TV
  • Today, postal workers and supporters gathered near SPID to protest the future of the United States Postal Service — they voiced concerns about upcoming changes and the service's long-term stability.  KIII-TV
