- ➤ Camp Aranzazu has provided accessible outdoor camp experiences to over 30,500 campers since 2006 on coastal land acquired 20 years ago in South Texas (including family camps that encourage independence) and now plans to expand with indoor spaces, interpretive trails and a multipurpose building to further community inclusion. - ➤ Corpus Christi Animal Care Services is partnering with J. Barrera Law to cover adoption fees for up to 40 pets each month starting today. Each pet comes with spay/neuter, microchip and vaccines and has a marked kennel card for easy spotting; families can visit the shelter at 2626 Holly Road (open Mon-Sat 12 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.). - ➤ Orange Grove officials reported lower groundwater levels and increased dissolved solids since Corpus Christi began large-scale pumping from its Western Well Field on March 19, prompting the small community (population about 1,000) to discuss water quality solutions with officials from Corpus Christi and Alice. - ➤ Nueces County Veterans Social Services and other area counties will host the Coastal Bend Joint County Veterans Claims Summit and Resource Fair at the Borchard Fairgrounds on Friday, April 24 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Veterans can speak with 12 county officers about claims, appeals, and benefits without needing an appointment.
