- ➤ Corpus Christi Water employees were honored at City Council for upgrading the Mary Rhodes Pipeline which now pumps 70 million gallons per day, and a $58 million SPID ramp reversal project split into seven phases will complete in 2029. Extended visiting hours at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery run until September 30th, Mr. Gatti’s Pizza will open in December near Olive Garden in Portland, a Community Health Fair is held at Cole Park this weekend from 2 to 5 p.m.—and the Corpus Christi Hooks start their season with an exhibition game tonight at 6:35 p.m. and a road game on Friday in Frisco. - ➤ Local business owners at Habeeb Plaza — including B&J's Pizza, Victoria's Jewels and La Mexicana Bakery — said TXDOT's ramp reversal project on SPID between Staples Street and Nile Drive may drive away customers as construction cuts parking spaces. TXDOT said the project will ease traffic — a change owners hope will bring more customers — and is set to finish by 2029. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ A Nueces County deputy constable stopped a car on a traffic stop yesterday around 9:25 a.m. in the Sandy Hollow-Escondidas subdivision—when the suspect fled and exchanged fire with DPS troopers—and a DPS trooper shot him as DPS investigates the incident. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Corpus Christi man Ruben Trevino was sentenced to 50 years in prison after a jury found him guilty of murder. KIII-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Corpus Christi Independent School District got over $500,000 from the Priority Regions Grant to improve its dual enrollment program with Del Mar College at Richard King High School on April 2. The grant will help students—mostly from disadvantaged backgrounds—get college classes early and update school systems. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Crews raced against time to clean up debris at Sunrise Mall after the city issued an order on Tuesday to fix all debris violations, and the site risks losing its demolition permit if the cleanup is not completed. KIII-TV
