COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ The Walk with Pride Fashion Show raised funds to buy shoes for local students throughout Coastal Bend. The shoes will be distributed in July to help them start the new school year. KIII-TV
- ➤ PAAC (People Assisting Animal Control) received a $500K state grant to fund spay and neuter services for stray pets in Corpus Christi and nine Coastal Bend counties. The funds become available in September as part of a $13M statewide program. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Coastal Bend CASA is hosting its Super Hero 5K + family event at Heritage Park on April 18, featuring a 1 km kids run and 2 mile walk to raise funds for children in foster care. Participants are encouraged to wear superhero costumes and check registration for more info. Action 10 News
- ➤ A large crowd honored veteran Ronnie 'Pointy Boots' Mathis during his Corpus Christi funeral, where he was laid to rest with full military honors. KIII-TV
- ➤ Realtors will host a charity runway event to benefit Walk With Pride and provide school shoes to hundreds of Coastal Bend children ahead of the new school year. KIII-TV

- ➤ Moody High School students secured top honors at STVT Weld Wars 2026 on March 28 when Daniel Pena and Keyshawn Odom placed first and second in a regional competition that tested their welding skills and introduced them to future career opportunities. Action 10 News
- ➤ Tuloso Midway ISD is proposing a $140 million bond to repair roofs and upgrade technology across its four campuses. The district will hold its first community meeting on Monday, Apr. 6 (for details) to answer questions and build support. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ 3NEWS visited the Frio River headwaters where spring-fed water begins its journey to the Coastal Bend + the region faces tightening drought conditions. KIII-TV
- ➤ The first sea turtle nest of the season was found on North Padre Island, where crews relocated 75 eggs to a protected incubation site & will monitor their progress in the coming days. KIII-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Between March 26 and April 1, the Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health District inspected over 30 restaurants, with 13 earning perfect scores and three, including El Nuevo San Blas (85) on Baldwin Boulevard, scoring below 95 as inspections noted issues with improper food temperatures and dirty surfaces.
