  • The Life Teen Spring Festival will be held on April 18 in Corpus Christi — it will feature food, games and live music from Ruben Salazar y Lasso and La DiferenZia.  KIII-TV
  • Corpus Christi's 88th annual Buc Days will run from April 30 through May 10 along the Bayfront and feature a kickoff parade on April 18, STEAM Expo events, and new educational programs. City council and the Buccaneer Commission signed a five-year deal to boost local jobs and economic benefits.  KRIS 6 News
  • Good Shepherd’s Corner Resale Shop in Corpus Christi is celebrating its 55th anniversary (55 years strong) with a weeklong event that supports local charities.  KIII-TV
  • Flour Bluff neighbors and the city council are working on the Trestle Bridge project to link the Southside with new biking and hiking trails — public input has been extended to next week to let more voices be heard before the plan goes to TxDOT.  Action 10 News

CULTURE NEWS

  • Pieces of the historic USS City of Corpus Christi submarine sail were unloaded Tuesday as the Ed Rachal Foundation took possession of the 60 ton structure and plans to restore it with sandblasting and repainting — the finished sail will be placed at Sherrill Veterans Memorial Park or USS Lexington.  KRIS 6 News
  • The Texas State Aquarium has been nominated for the USA Today 10BEST title and aims to improve on its third-place finish last year (online voting is open until May 11).  KIII-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • A new retail center in Calallen will soon welcome Academy Outdoors, Olive Garden and Longhorn Steakhouse, with Academy Outdoors beginning construction and others planned to start by end of May at 3601 IH 69 Access Road. Residents expressed excitement but worry about increased traffic — county officials review roadway improvements.  Action 10 News

HEALTH NEWS

  • Elizondo Medical Group opened its fifth clinic in Kingsville to fill a care gap after the WellMed facility closed in March; it picked up 700 patients and offers services for both chronic and acute issues. The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (361-355-9700).  KRIS 6 News

  • Incarnate Word Academy's Angel Tennis team won its third straight TAPPS 4A state championship on April 13 at the Waco Tennis Regional Center — Kameron Fernandez led in boys singles and Cameron Rybar with Nikhil Madappa clinched the doubles title while the girls finished as runner-ups.  Action 10 News
  • Yesterday, state-ranked high school baseball and softball playoffs delivered exciting results as Calallen swept Tuloso-Midway, King rallied past Carroll, West Oso topped Aransas Pass to keep a perfect district record, and Ray and Veterans battled late in a tight baseball contest.  KIII-TV
