  • Texas State Aquarium offers free sensory bags (with silencing headphones and fidget toys) daily to help guests manage sensory overload. While Sensory Sundays are not scheduled now, the aquarium plans to expand its calm environment programs for visitors.  Action 10 News
  • Families can pick up free gun safety locks at the CPS office on Greenwood from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to help ensure secure firearm storage at home for protecting children.  KRIS 6 News
  • Agua Dulce will open a retro-inspired, state-of-the-art municipal plaza donated by Wyatt Ranches. The new community hub is expected to offer a modern venue for gatherings in the area.  KIII-TV
  • Hundreds gathered at Concrete Street for Men Who Cook — a local fundraising event for the Ronald McDonald House and families staying at Driscoll — that showcased strong community support.  KIII-TV

  • AAUW Corpus Christi is hosting a book sale at Neyland Library to fund scholarships for Texas A&M and Del Mar College students until 1:30 p.m. today. Books cost from $1 to $20 and all proceeds support five scholarships.  Action 10 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Texans will be able to buy qualifying emergency supplies tax free during the state’s Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday from 12:01 a.m. Apr. 25 to midnight Apr. 27, saving about $2.4 million in taxes, with eligible items including batteries, flashlights, hurricane shutters, emergency ladders, and portable generators.  Caller Times
