  • A southside resident said Grizzly Drive has steadily deteriorated over decades while nearby streets are repaired, forcing her to press hard on the gas pedal — recent rains worsen the cracks and city crews only perform minimal maintenance at a condition score of 60.  Action 10 News

  • San Diego High School's Mariachi Azul y Oro won a state title at the TAME competition after nearly six years; the group (celebrating cultural pride) credited months of dedication and practice for breaking their drought.  Action 10 News

  • Rockport and Ingleside are testing brackish water desalination and reverse osmosis projects amid growing supply concerns — the cities declared water emergencies to prompt independent solutions.  KIII-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Corpus Christi City Council approved a water curtailment plan Tuesday that cuts residents’ water use by 25% during an emergency if rain does not come soon. The final vote is set for May 19 + the plan permits using five-gallon buckets for vehicle washing at home.  The Texas Tribune
  • City crews ramped up storm debris collection after Monday night's severe weather damaged neighborhoods near Oso Bay. Cleanup efforts are ongoing as local teams work to clear fallen branches and scattered debris + restore safe streets.  KIII-TV
  • Nueces County leaders broke ground on a $1M drainage project near Petronila to reduce flooding before hurricane season. The project will improve local infrastructure as heavy rains approach.  KIII-TV

  • During his rehab assignment Tuesday at Whataburger Field, Astros shortstop Jeremy Peña flipped over after colliding with Angel Ortiz and was hit by a pitch before being pulled as the Hooks lost 2-0 to the Sod Poodles. Jake Meyers went 0-for-4 and Josh Hader pitched a scoreless inning.  KIII-TV
