ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Police said a fatal crash early Monday morning in Aransas Pass left two people dead—details on the victims and crash cause were not released.  KIII-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Texas State Aquarium in Corpus Christi is getting ready for hurricane season with a three-step plan—prepare, respond, and recover—to keep animals safe by moving them indoors 48 hours before a storm and using high water measures while working with state and local agencies. The center, which is the nation's largest coastal wildlife rescue hub, will send teams within 24 hours after storms to check for damage.  KRIS 6 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Texas House passed a bill requiring every public school classroom to display the Ten Commandments — mounted in a frame measuring 16 by 20 inches — if the Senate approves the bill and Governor Greg Abbott signs it into law. If enacted, schools must have the displays installed by September 1st.  KRIS 6 News
  • Yesterday, the City of Corpus Christi honored fallen service members on Memorial Day as families (including many veterans) gathered to pay their respects.  KIII-TV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Emery Ramos, a six-year-old from Kingsville, is fighting leukemia for the second time and needs a bone marrow transplant. Her family and NMDP are asking donors 18 to 40 to text Hope4Emery to 61474 for a cheek swab kit to find a match—this effort is urgent due to a low Hispanic registry rate.  KRIS 6 News
