- ➤ Texas Gov. Greg Abbott froze tuition at all public colleges and universities for the 2026-27 school year to keep higher education affordable — marking the third consecutive year of the freeze aimed at supporting workforce needs. Caller Times

- ➤ St. Paul homeowner Crissie Godines said heavy rain flooded her property because a covered ditch forces water back onto her land. County drainage officials+will return once the water recedes to assess long-term fixes. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Heavy rain flooded Southside streets on Wednesday morning as Oso Creek nearly reached major flood stage at 24.6 feet, delaying travel and disrupting local business in affected neighborhoods. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation is using Solar Shield—a food-grade liquid additive that reduces evaporation—to save water at 7 pools and 5 splash pads this summer. The pools open Saturday, May 30 and run through August 9, as director Robert Dodd says the measure builds on water-saving efforts first tried last summer. KRIS 6 News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Corpus Christi issued 1,087 drought-related fines between April 1, 2025 and April 1, 2026, with nearly half dismissed in court. Fines peaked in summer and fall when Stage 3 restrictions and heat led to increased nonessential water use. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Corpus Christi Medical Center doctors raise stroke awareness ahead of the Coastal Bend Stroke Walk and Run on Saturday, May 30, 8–11 a.m. at Cole Park Pier. The free event offers a 5K and a 1K kids’ run with T-shirts for a $10 donation (supporting the American Heart Association). KIII-TV
