TxDOT held its annual storm wall drill in Aransas Pass on Thursday to test a barrier that measures 80 feet in width and 10 feet in height and closes the gap on Highway 361 ahead of hurricane season.

The drill is part of a three-part defense system and proved successful—showing that key safety measures are in place.

Robstown received a $6.7 million grant from the Texas General Land Office to improve Perkins Street, Elizabeth Street, and other key areas as residents have long struggled with flooding and poor road conditions.

Almost three weeks after the Harbor Bridge ribbon cutting was cancelled on May 10, officials noted that work like new lighting, striping and painting continues—yet no official opening date has been set.
