EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ TAMUCC is hosting affordable summer camps that let students experience college life and learn from expert faculty in subjects like theatre, nursing, engineering, cheer, dance, STEM, sports and music—music camp requires at least one year of experience, will run from June 9–13, and enrollment stays open until June 2. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The water supply in the region is shrinking and local officials said Corpus Christi may not have enough water by December 2026—authorities are reviewing plans to address the shortage. KIII-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TxDOT held its annual storm wall drill in Aransas Pass on Thursday to test a barrier that measures 80 feet in width and 10 feet in height and closes the gap on Highway 361 ahead of hurricane season. The drill is part of a three-part defense system and proved successful—showing that key safety measures are in place. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Robstown received a $6.7 million grant from the Texas General Land Office to improve Perkins Street, Elizabeth Street, and other key areas as residents have long struggled with flooding and poor road conditions. Mayor Petey Martinez said work will begin in a few months—bringing long-awaited repairs to the community. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Almost three weeks after the Harbor Bridge ribbon cutting was cancelled on May 10, officials noted that work like new lighting, striping and painting continues—yet no official opening date has been set. TxDOT said it will provide an update soon as they complete the remaining tasks and work with local officials and the Governor's office to move the project forward. KIII-TV
