- ➤ On June 2, local, federal and state leaders celebrated the near completion of the Port of Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project, which deepened the channel from 47 feet to 54 feet and widened it from 400 feet to 530 feet — saving an estimated $200 million in annual costs. The 35-year project will finish its final dredging phase later this quarter as officials thank past and present leaders for their role in securing funding. Caller Times
