  • Elon Musk outlined SpaceX’s plan for Starship to reach Mars by launching an uncrewed flight carrying Optimus robots by the end of 2026 during a Texas briefing near Starbase—180 miles south of Corpus Christi.  Caller Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Pride Month has kicked off in Corpus Christi with a range of celebrations scheduled throughout June, including musicals, movie nights, drag shows, art exhibits, and community gatherings that promote wellness and inclusion. ECONOMY NEWS

  • On June 2, local, federal and state leaders celebrated the near completion of the Port of Corpus Christi Ship Channel Improvement Project, which deepened the channel from 47 feet to 54 feet and widened it from 400 feet to 530 feet — saving an estimated $200 million in annual costs. The 35-year project will finish its final dredging phase later this quarter as officials thank past and present leaders for their role in securing funding.  Caller Times

  • Port of Corpus Christi CEO Kent Britton said the ship channel was dredged and widened to let bigger vehicles pass under the bridge & boost local economic opportunity.  KIII-TV
  • A portion of Ennis Joslin Road and Nile Drive near the Oso Water Treatment Plant was closed for underground utility work Monday, June 2—drivers were directed by detour signs and the project will finish by June 16.  KRIS 6 News
  • Today marks one year since the community honored Senior Officer Vicente Ortiz, a Sinton native who dedicated his life to serving in the Corpus Christi Police Department. His long record of service continues to inspire local officers.  KIII-TV
