- ➤ South Texas Botanical Gardens and Nature Center in Corpus Christi is offering free admission for dads this Father's Day weekend — June 14-15 — from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. when dads say 'Lizards and Snakes' at check-in, while family members pay regular admission. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ The Texas Sealife Center will release rescued green sea turtle patients into the ocean at 11:00 a.m. this Sunday, June 15, in front of the Wyndham CC Resort on North Padre Island (free parking is available at Windward Parking lot). KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Corpus Christi police are asking the public to help find Melinda Martinez, a 58-year-old woman missing since December 2024 who (at 4 feet, 10 inches tall and weighing about 110 pounds) suffers from early-stage dementia and was last seen near Staples Street Station, the Mother Teresa Shelter, and around Horne Road and Columbia Street. - ➤ The AAUW Corpus Christi Branch is hosting its annual book sale from June 12 through 14 at Neyland Library + the event will fund scholarships for students at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Del Mar College and support local nonprofit programs while offering books on Texas history, children's literature and fine art. - ➤ Corpus Christi city officials are preparing for hurricane season with updated emergency plans and an evacuation drill scheduled for Friday at the natatorium — free sandbag distribution will take place on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Cabaniss Athletic Complex. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Nueces County commissioners will vote today on a resolution to build a veterans nursing home on county-owned property in Robstown—this project will serve local veterans who currently must travel to San Antonio or the Rio Grande Valley for specialized care. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Starting at 8:00 a.m. today, the northwest corner of Staples Street and McArdle Road will close for the third phase of a traffic signal upgrade that will last four weeks + include new mast arms, ADA-compliant pedestrian signals, and improved crosswalks and curb ramps. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ The Corpus Christi City Council issued a Juneteenth proclamation today inviting residents to join NAACP events that educate the public about the holiday’s significance — including a free luncheon at the Oveal Williams Senior Center on June 19 at 11:30 a.m. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Corpus Christi firefighters will soon receive comprehensive cancer screenings under a new city program approved Tuesday—using a two-year agreement with Grail Incorporated and the Galleri blood test to screen for 31 types of cancer. The fire department expects to have all firefighters screened by the end of the year—addressing their 9% higher cancer risk compared to the general population. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Pediatric cancer patients from Driscoll Children's Hospital enjoyed the 19th annual Chemo Kids Fish Off in Port Aransas yesterday as fishing guides from the Coastal Bend Guides Association took them out for a day of fishing and fun.
