ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Corpus Christi police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash on State Highway 358 that occurred at 2:32 a.m. on June 9 and killed Timothy Raska—investigators are asking anyone with information to help identify the driver of a white vehicle.  Caller Times

CRIME NEWS

  • Corpus Christi police are searching for 58-year-old Melinda Martinez, who has early-stage dementia and was last seen homeless in December 2024 near Staples Street Station, Mother Theresa, and the Horne Rd./Columbia St. area; officials ask locals to call 911 or (361) 886-2600 if they see her.  KIII-TV

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Meat prices at Moody's Meat Market are rising as a historic low cattle supply—caused by drought and early herd sales—pushes costs higher at checkout. Owner Charlie Moench said buyers will likely face more expensive cuts until the cattle herd picks up later this year or early next.  KRIS 6 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Corpus Christi ISD students scored below state averages in the Spring 2025 STAAR End-of-Course exams with lower percentages in Algebra I, Biology, English I, English II, and U.S. History compared to statewide results. The Texas Education Agency announced that Grades 3–8 scores will be released on June 17—families can check scores via the district portal or TexasAssessment.gov.  KIII-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Corpus Christi opened its new Fire Station #3 today in a busy district to better serve local residents, replacing a 1970s station with modern features. City officials said the $11 million station includes private sleeping quarters + a dedicated exercise area + expanded vehicle bays to improve emergency response.  KRIS 6 News
  • Corpus Christi Public Works Department will give free sandbags to neighbors at two events held at the Cabaniss Athletic Complex—Saturday, June 14 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. until supplies run out and Saturday, June 28 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.—as hurricane season approaches. Neighbors can pick up up to 8 sandbags per vehicle and must have clear space in their trunk or truck bed for safe loading.  Action 10 News
  • The Corpus Christi city council approved more than $4 million Tuesday for a major makeover of Animal Care Services—funds that will create three full-time jobs and support capital improvements and equipment purchases after a report flagged over 100 issues, including a non-operational cremation furnace. Officials said the improvements are meant to restore proper operations at the department.  KRIS 6 News
  • The City of Corpus Christi closed several North Beach streets today due to flooding—closures include Golf Place, Kleberg Place and other streets along Surfside and Gulfbreeze Boulevards. Neighbors can still access their homes during these closures.  KRIS 6 News
