- ➤ Crews are renovating the historic Littles-Martin House in Heritage Park, once home to one of Corpus Christi’s first Black families, to serve as the NAACP headquarters and a future museum. The project—funded by nearly $1 million in grants from the Community Development Block Grant and HUD—is expected to finish by spring 2026. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Texas Sealife Center on Padre Island will soon begin construction on a new animal hospital—funded by $500,000 in ARPA funds and a matching Nueces County grant—to expand care for injured sea turtles, birds and other animals. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ On Monday, a Corpus Christi jury found Raul Raymond Casarez guilty of capital murder for fatally stabbing his mother in Live Oak County on February 10th—he was sentenced to life without parole two years after her death. KIII-TV

- ➤ MetroCom saw its emergency calls rise from 4,677 in February to 5,764 in May, and seven new young dispatchers—including 23-year-old Isabella Gomez, who started three months ago—are now managing the increased workload. Officials say warmer weather and growing tourism are pushing the demand higher as they work to provide careful help. Action 10 News
- ➤ Corpus Christi Housing Authority CEO Gary Allsup earns a total of $785,816—comprised of a base salary of $528,074, an annual bonus of $257,742, and a car allowance of $7,200—as shown by his employment contract obtained through a public records request. The board halted about $435 million in further property transactions last month amid local officials’ complaints that the deals cost schools and other services millions in lost tax revenue. - ➤ Corpus Christi held its annual hurricane evacuation drill at the Corpus Christi Gym this morning, where residents and emergency workers practiced safe evacuation procedures—officials stressed the need for every household to have a plan and noted that the RTA will help those without transportation.
