- ➤ Families gathered at Gulf Coast Humane Society on Saturday morning for the monthly 'Read and Rollover' event where children read books to shelter animals waiting for adoption — those interested can join future sessions every third Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Red Dragon Pirate Cruises in Port Aransas has named 21-year-old Captain Poison — the first female pirate ship captain in the Coastal Bend. She earned her 100-ton inland license last November and will lead summer cruises that inspire local youth. Action 10 News
- ➤ Corpus Christi boxing coach Ernesto “Coach” Hernandez Chavarria Sr. died at 69 after gallbladder surgery complications — he spent his life offering free training to local youth and kept several gyms open with community fundraisers. - ➤ Cars rallied as part of Walmart’s nationwide movement to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network—an effort that helped boost funds for pediatric care and involved local supporters. KIII-TV
