CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Robstown ISD board trustee secretary Cezar Martinez (32) was arrested on Father's Day, June 15 for DWI after his single-vehicle crash hit a fence and he was taken to Live Oak County jail on a $3,500 bond; this marks his second DWI since 2019. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Del Mar College is hosting a job fair today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Heritage Campus Harvin Center’s Retama Room at 101 Baldwin Blvd, where local job seekers can meet recruiters and get on-site help with their applications + the event provides a direct pathway to higher education career opportunities. - ➤ Del Mar College saw enrollment rise after it offered a new tuition waiver program—this new option has boosted interest and may help more local students attend in the future. KIII-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 10 on June 21 that requires public schools to display the Ten Commandments, and experts expect legal challenges similar to a case in Louisiana. Flour Bluff ISD said it will work with the Texas Education Agency and legal counsel to follow the law while it awaits guidance (the ACLU is likely to file for injunctive relief) (experts doubt the rule will be used in classrooms this school year). - ➤ City manager Peter Zanoni's authority to sign contracts for the inner harbor desalination project was questioned at Tuesday's council meeting when council members pushed to review his decision-making power. The new measure, effective July 1, requires him to get council approval for contracts over $50,000 — local officials worry this change may delay the project. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ The Corpus Christi City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to approve a resolution declaring $350M workforce housing deals apparently illegal due to alleged violations of the Open Meetings Act and local bylaws — the resolution calls on the housing authority to correct these issues — and it may lead to litigation. - ➤ Members of the Tax Increment Investment Zone voted on a $200K budget proposal to bring improvements to North Beach—this effort is expected to breathe new life into the area. KIII-TV
