  • Businesses near the new Harbor Bridge are preparing for traffic changes as construction nears completion and the old bridge faces demolition — changes that will affect access from North Beach to downtown. The Texas State Aquarium and local business owners have adjusted plans due to fewer northbound exits and past revenue losses, and they expect visitor numbers to rise once traffic normalizes.  Action 10 News

  • A wrong-way driver crashed into a pickup truck on South Padre Island Drive early this morning at 5:30 a.m.—three people sustained non-life-threatening injuries and police say the driver could face charges.  KRIS 6 News
  • On June 25th, 43 years after their brother Ramon Jaramillo Vasquez vanished at age 28, the Alice family asked anyone with clues to come forward as investigators at Jim Wells County Sheriff's Office await DNA results from remains sent to North Texas University—adding urgency since their 96-year-old mother is on hospice care.  KRIS 6 News

  • Corpus Christi musician Pablo Perez, who passed away in 2024, was honored this week with a memorial space flight that launched his ashes into space through Celestis Inc & SpaceX's Small SatRideshare program. His family arranged the tribute to celebrate his love of space and his lasting musical legacy.  KIII-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill (SB 15) which gives homebuilders more flexibility to build smaller homes on reduced lot sizes and convert empty commercial spaces into living areas to help lower housing costs starting September 1. In Corpus Christi, local groups note these changes may ease pressure on residents facing high home prices and unused office space due to more remote work.  KIII-TV
  • Corpus Christi City Council unanimously approved an ordinance to narrow three roads from four lanes to two lanes in the London area while keeping one street at four lanes to support future school campus plans. Developers and city officials said the modified plan addresses school district concerns and follows traffic study predictions.  KRIS 6 News
