- ➤ The Corpus Christi Fire Department and American Red Cross teamed up Saturday, June 28 to help Westside homes by installing free smoke alarms at 80 houses. Volunteers installed two alarms per home — one in the hallway and one in the living room — and fire officials said similar safety efforts will continue in the future. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ The Texas State Aquarium celebrated its 35th anniversary on North Beach Saturday, June 28, honoring staff, community partners, and supporters who helped build its legacy — a milestone celebrated by marine educators nationwide. Jesse Gilbert said the aquarium is now the third best in North America — with a leading wildlife rescue program. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Texas Highway Patrol is launching a statewide maximum enforcement campaign—Operation Crash Awareness Reduction Effort—from July 3-6 to target speeding, drunk driving and violations of the Move Over, Slow Down law during Fourth of July celebrations. The initiative follows last year’s campaign where troopers issued over 59,521 citations and arrested 212 people for DWI charges. KIII-TV
