- ➤ Mayor’s Big Bang lit up the bayfront on July 4th during the annual fireworks show — a longstanding celebration that drew local crowds. KIII-TV
- ➤ Organizers are preparing for the 2nd Annual Back-to-School Bash at the Boys and Girls Club on Greenwood Drive near Horne Road to help over 2,000 local children get ready for school. The event will offer free haircuts—free or low-cost eye exams, physicals, immunizations and school supply giveaways and will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 26th. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Bubba's 33 on Corpus Christi’s westside is raising money to build homes for post-9/11 veterans by donating $1 for every Patriot Burger sold during the July 4th holiday period—seeking to reach a goal of $333,000 after raising $250,000 last year. This long-running partnership with Homes for Our Troops has supported veterans since 2003. Action 10 News

- ➤ Corpus Christi Police confirmed that a man in his 50s drowned on Mustang Island on Friday at about 3:07 p.m.—he was pulled from the water while receiving CPR and later pronounced dead at a local hospital. KIII-TV
- ➤ Fireworks started a grass fire near Padre Island Yacht Club Friday night that firefighters said posed no threat to homes and was expected to burn itself out in hours (Nueces County ESD 2 reported), echoing similar incidents on past Independence Days. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ A Corpus Christi woman nearly fell for a scam when a caller posing as a credit union fraud specialist asked about her recent large purchases+she later confirmed with the credit union that no such call was made, while a family friend reportedly lost $5,000 to a similar scheme. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Northbound lanes of the new Harbor Bridge in Corpus Christi will open July 8 while preparatory closures include a 24-hour shutdown of northbound SH 286 starting 9 a.m. July 7 — drivers should expect delays and follow new signage. Caller Times
- ➤ The Small Business Administration offers disaster relief to Texas nonprofits, small businesses, and residents in affected Coastal Bend counties with loans up to $2 million for business repairs or $500,000 for home restoration — applicants must apply by August 1. Businesses, nonprofits, homeowners, and renters can use these loans to fix or replace damaged property from the May storms. Action 10 News
