- ➤ The Corpus Christi Police Department will launch Operation Safe Return on Aug. 2 at the American Bank Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—the event will give 4,000 backpacks with school supplies and offer services like physicals, immunizations, and safety checks to local students. Caller Times
- ➤ Around 750 runners joined the Texas Strong 5K at West Guth Park and raised over $20,000 for flood victims, local shelters, and volunteer groups while organizers coordinated the race in eight days. - ➤ Yesterday the Port of Corpus Christi approved a 31 acre lease with the Nueces River Authority to build a desalination plant on Harbor Island that will make up to 100 million gallons of water a day.
