- ➤ The Corpus Christi Police Department hosted its 14th annual Operation Safe Return at the American Bank Center, providing 4,000 backpacks and essential services such as immunizations and physicals to Coastal Bend students as families prepared for the new school year. - ➤ Corpus Christi Fire Department investigated a fire at Stripes on Airline Rd. and S.P.I.D. on Tuesday that ignited a vehicle and gas pump and severely injured a man who was treated on scene—he was later airlifted to a burn unit while investigators review video footage and interviews and hope to have answers by the end of the week. - ➤ Two people were injured in a shooting at the Corpus Christi Trail Ride event around midnight Saturday—officers and deputies found a 32-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man on the 6700 block of Old Brownsville Road, with the man in stable condition as investigations continue. KRIS 6 News
