Gulf Coast Humane Society is preparing dozens of pets for adoption during the Clear the Shelters event from August 1 through August 31 — the 11th annual campaign helps local shelters facing overcrowding and potential euthanasia — while inviting online donations on social media.

A new brain-controlled device gives stroke survivors hope by using a headset to detect movement signals and rebuild brain connections—occupational therapists announced that clinical screenings will soon determine who qualifies for the technology, which is already FDA cleared but not fully approved. Jo Ann Gaddis, who suffered a stroke on April 25, said the innovation may help her return to her favorite activities.
