EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On August 8, four South Texas school districts and two community colleges received over $1.6 million in JET grants from the Texas Workforce Commission to boost career and technical education programs. Corpus Christi ISD used its $57,312 grant to buy a plane-building kit for Veterans Memorial High School’s aviation program—while Del Mar College and Banquete ISD updated equipment for automotive and health science training. - ➤ Crews are finishing final touches at Lexington Middle School on Yorktown Blvd in preparation for Monday’s first day of school — the new campus built with bond money will initially welcome about 500 students and help ease overcrowding at nearby schools. KIII-TV
