Corpus Christi ISD used its $57,312 grant to buy a plane-building kit for Veterans Memorial High School’s aviation program—while Del Mar College and Banquete ISD updated equipment for automotive and health science training.
Crews are finishing final touches at Lexington Middle School on Yorktown Blvd in preparation for Monday’s first day of school — the new campus built with bond money will initially welcome about 500 students and help ease overcrowding at nearby schools.
🏛️ Government
State officials answered Corpus Christi City Council's questions on the desalination project—decision-making on the proposal is set for September 5.
Nueces County Commissioner Mike Pusley called for fast-tracking the Inner Harbor desalination plant to bring water quickly amid the drought, noting it is fully permitted and funds are in place.
Engineering firm Kiewit warned that stopping work may lead to delays & higher costs, with officials planning to resume construction by Aug. 28.
