- ➤ Starting tomorrow, the northbound lanes of I-37 from North Tancahua to the Crosstown Interchange will close for Harbor Bridge construction—drivers from downtown, the SEA District, or the Bayfront will be detoured onto the frontage road until fall 2024. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ A section of Mt. Vernon Street is closed today from Everhart Road to Wynona Drive as crews install an 8-inch waterline to improve the area's water service (drivers are following marked detours to avoid the work). Action 10 News
- ➤ At an Aug. 12 city council meeting, Corpus Christi leaders questioned the cost of a $24.44 per acre foot nonrefundable reservation fee as the Nueces River Authority seeks a private partner to build and operate a desalination plant on Harbor Island—nearly 70% of its capacity is already claimed and if built, the facility will start with 100 million gallons per day to serve the Coastal Bend by 2029. - ➤ Construction crews in Corpus Christi will begin $3.4 million water line improvements at the South Padre Island Drive—Everhart Road intersection this August as part of a larger $29.3 million road project approved by voters.
