- ➤ Parents gathered outside Veterans Memorial High School this morning to protest after a school employee was charged with giving alcohol to minors at a King's Crossing party on August 2 where two teenagers were shot — one with chest and back wounds and another with an ankle injury — as CCISD said safety is a top priority and urged sharing only facts. - ➤ Corpus Christi ISD put Mireles Elementary teacher Misty Perez on leave with pay — she and her husband, Robert, were accused of buying and providing alcohol to minors at a house party on the 7800 block of Beauvais Drive on August 2 that saw a shooting. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Invest 98L is moving toward south Texas and may cause heavy rain and localized flooding by the weekend — it currently has a 20% chance of cyclone formation in the next 48 hours and seven days. Tropical Storm Erin is expected to strengthen into a major hurricane by Sunday but is forecast to pass north of Texas, posing little direct threat to our area. Caller Times

- ➤ Corpus Christi City Council voted Tuesday to let staff draft a purchase agreement for water rights over 22K acres in San Patricio County from the Evangeline Groundwater Project — a move that will be reviewed in a future vote on the $169M deal. The project is expected to yield about 24 million gallons per day but will need roughly $640M for drilling and infrastructure — city officials said revenue bonds will finance the costs. KIII-TV
