- ➤ City leaders from Corpus Christi and Flour Bluff ISD will hold a town hall at the Janet F. Harte Library on Monday, August 25, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. to discuss new library hours required for safety codes – Councilwoman Kaylynn Paxson, City Manager Peter Zanoni, and Superintendent Chris Steinbruck will answer local questions. - ➤ Today the city announced that funding has been secured to build four new pedestrian and biking trails that will connect neighborhoods to schools — officials said the project will begin soon. KIII-TV

- ➤ Elida Reyna will perform at Brewster Street Icehouse—Corpus Christi on Saturday, Oct. 18 as part of her farewell tour that caps a 30-year career marked by two Latin Grammys and a devoted fanbase. Fans will enjoy an intimate meet-and-greet after the show. KIII-TV

- ➤ On Wednesday morning, the Nueces County Commissioners Court honored the Flour Bluff NJROTC for winning national and state championship titles—highlighting their success in the Brain Brawl academic competition and strong community service efforts across the Coastal Bend. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Parents at Creekside Elementary say new traffic restrictions on Oso Parkway have doubled morning drop-off times and forced them to leave 25 minutes early, which has caused congestion on Yorktown. Councilman Gil Hernandez said the changes were made by the school district, city engineers, and the police to improve safety. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Today, Nueces County issued a burn ban that stops all outdoor burning and beach bonfires for 90 days unless lifted earlier based on fire risk assessments. Household trash can only be burned in enclosed containers when pickup is unavailable—other essential outdoor activities remain permitted under specific conditions. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ On Wednesday, Governor Greg Abbott expanded his special session agenda by adding punishments for lawmakers who left the state to block legislative business following the House vote on a GOP congressional map. He also urged lawmakers to consider bills for purchasing ivermectin at pharmacies and studying groundwater in East Texas — steps he said are needed to prevent rogue lawmakers from hijacking the session. - ➤ For the first time this flu season, Americans can self-administer the FDA-approved FluMist vaccine using a nasal spray—available for home delivery in Texas and 33 other states.
