- ➤ The Texas State Aquarium has launched a new program today that allows residents to symbolically adopt wildlife—such as sea otters, ocelots and dolphins—to support animal rehabilitation. KIII-TV
- ➤ The old Harbor Bridge will be lowered this fall and the Texas State Aquarium is moving its dolphins to the Wildlife Rescue Center to protect them from dust—parking will be adjusted and full demolition is planned by late spring. KIII-TV

- ➤ Just one month into the school year, a child on a scooter was nearly hit by a car near Berlanga Elementary School—officials stress that drivers must remain alert in school zones. KIII-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Corpus Christi leaders believe that Senate Bill 22 will bring new film productions to the Coastal Bend as local film incentives encourage filming and music projects. Visit Corpus Christi is searching for a new film and music commissioner to guide the sector forward—boosting the region's film hub. KIII-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Corpus Christi Independent School District held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Carl O. Hamlin Middle School on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The 156,000 square foot campus accommodates 750 students and features 22 classrooms, a Fine Arts wing, two gyms, and a weight room — adding new opportunities for student learning. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Solomon Coles High School in Corpus Christi has received a $100,000 technology grant to fund a new lab and expand its diploma program to include students up to age 26—meeting a need for older learners. The new program honors the historic campus legacy while opening fresh opportunities for those who have faced challenges in completing their education. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ With unemployment at 4.3% and youth joblessness at 9.2%, Del Mar College in Corpus Christi is helping students and graduates land jobs by offering interview prep, resume assistance and career fairs. The school will host a college fair on Sept. 30 from 9-11 a.m.—at the White Library at their Heritage Campus, and it also holds networking workshops and skills fairs to connect job seekers with local employers.
