Here's your local news at a glance for Monday, the 21st of September.
Good morning, Corpus Christi.
🌲 Environment
Corpus Christi Water says residents might notice an earthy taste and musty odor in tap water for a few days (the compounds no longer appear in the source but still move through the system) with improvements expected by early this week; concerned customers can call 3-1-1.
The University of Texas Marine Science Institute made water, wind, and wave data from three buoys available online near Port Aransas today and the data updates every 30 minutes to help boaters + coastal researchers monitor conditions and support safety.
🏛️ Government
Today, a community meeting is scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Island in the Son United Methodist Church on Highway 361 to discuss safety plans after three fatalities last month with residents + law enforcement + transportation officials sharing input.
Corpus Christi Water crews are working around the clock to fix a leak on the Mary Rhodes Pipeline near Highways 77 and 239, south of the San Antonio River.
The pipeline takes water from Lake Texana to the treatment plant while crews dewater the site and increase backup production.
🏈 Sports
Cyclists gathered on Saturday at Whataburger Field for the annual Conquer the Coast event, riding 10-mile, 21-mile, and 66-mile routes through Corpus Christi and Coastal Bend communities.
Phillips 66 presented the event— awarding finish-line medals and refreshments to riders.
