  • Corpus Christi residents will attend V Mart’s annual Moon Festival on Saturday, September 27 at 4 p.m. on the Southside, where families can sample mooncakes, join lantern-making workshops, enjoy live performances and participate in outdoor movie screenings—bringing the community together to celebrate Asian culture.  KRIS 6 News
  • Today La Retama Library hosted Pow-Wow 101 to celebrate Native American traditions with live dance and storytelling. Families learned about cultural etiquette and long-held customs—helping to dispel stereotypes and build community understanding.  KIII-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Corpus Christi is hosting the 5th annual Sisters in Fire event—giving students in grades 8-12 hands-on training in firefighting and public safety careers.  KIII-TV
  • Parents across Texas filed a federal lawsuit on Sept. 22—alleging that a state law requiring every school to display a specific version of the Ten Commandments violates religious rights, and a Flour Bluff parent says the policy makes her child feel unwelcome.  Caller Times

  • A recent email from the city attorney contradicts the city manager’s testimony on a $2 million hotel incentive—raising fresh questions about whether all council members were informed about an altered screenshot shown during an April session.   • Corpus Christi City Council will review two proposed groundwater projects today after canceling an Inner Harbor desalination plant three weeks ago.   • Experts in the Coastal Bend warn parents that free AI chatbots may harm children’s mental health and stress that these tools should not replace real human help — professionals from local hospitals and universities urge parents to stay alert for warning signs.  KRIS 6 News
  • A free Narcan vending machine is now operating at 907 Antelope St.—the first in the Coastal Bend—to offer naloxone near a substance abuse recovery clinic and other downtown public services. Program director Taze Vandever said the machine holds 300 units and had dispensed about 200 units since its launch on September 12th.  Caller Times

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Coastal Bend realtor David Garcia explained that the Fed’s recent rate cut—reducing rates by about a quarter of a percent—offers a chance to lower monthly home payments, though rising demand may soon push home prices higher. He noted that buyers looking at a $400,000 home could see monthly savings of about $100 to $150 and advised acting quickly before competition increases, while experts predict rates may drop two more times by year end.  KRIS 6 News
