COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Two local women will open Kingsville’s first Community Teaching Garden at the Maggie Salinas Pavilion with help from the City Commission, Parks and Recreation, and a donation from the Boys and Girls Club—they will host fall gardening activities led by 4-H on October 11 to teach residents how to grow native produce.  KRIS 6 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Corpus Christi ISD will host two expos for students and their families; high school students can visit the Coastal Bend Area College Night Expo at Moody High School’s Elizondo Gym on Oct. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m.—colleges will share information, and middle school students can attend the high school expo at Carroll High School arena on Oct. 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.—the event will explain the district’s programs of choice.  Caller Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Corpus Christi RTA held its annual Bus Roadeo where drivers and mechanics tested their skills through challenging obstacle courses — the event will select team members to represent the city at the State Bus Roadeo in Lubbock next spring.  KRIS 6 News

  • Top global tennis players will bring world-class action to Corpus Christi for a major International Tennis Federation tournament, promising exciting matches for local fans. The event will take place soon — drawing top talent and boosting local interest in the sport.  KIII-TV
