ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Today, Flint Hills Resources commissioned a new $53 million 27-megawatt solar installation at its Corpus Christi West refinery that uses 56,728 solar panels over 100 acres to cover about 28% of its power needs. - ➤ Beeville ISD partnered with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to launch a dual-credit program at A-C Jones High School that gives students courses in land surveying and geospatial engineering—students who finish the program earn an industry certification to qualify for high-paying jobs immediately after graduation. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Corpus Christi is accepting applications for its Minor Home Repair Program from October 7 through October 21, offering grants up to $25,000 for seniors, persons with disabilities, Veterans and their spouses to complete critical repairs such as roofing, plumbing, or electrical work. Applicants must submit their online applications with staff help at La Retama Central Library Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.—the program requires a photo ID, recent pay stub, Social Security award letter and bank statement. - ➤ The City of Corpus Christi is hiring for a vector control position—this role will manage pest control efforts to protect public health. The recruitment process is ongoing as the city prepares to fill the opening. KIII-TV
