- ➤ Cornerstone Baptist Church’s annual pumpkin patch in Alice is facing economic challenges as fewer families buy pumpkins—donations for local and international missions have dropped and organizers hope to raise a couple thousand dollars by Halloween. Action 10 News
- ➤ Jim Wells County Welfare Board is asking the community to donate toys, clothing, and gift cards to give foster children a special Christmas. Board President Magda Luna and Change One founder Cortney Jones—who grew up in foster care—say extra gifts and a holiday party will help these kids feel loved during the season. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ At a JV football game on October 23, a La Vernia player tackled a A.C. Jones player and exchanged punches after a helmet was thrown—both school districts and the UIL are investigating the incident. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Del Mar College revived its Turkey Bowl tradition for its 90th anniversary, uniting faculty, staff—and students on campus. The event marks a renewed campus celebration as the college honors a significant milestone. KIII-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Unlit radio towers on Corpus Christi’s West Side have raised air safety concerns as a local caller said broken cables may make it hard for pilots to see them at night and government shutdown delays have stalled FAA and military responses. City code enforcement said crews will mow the area on Monday October 27 — while AEP confirmed that the hanging power lines near the tower are not theirs. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Corpus Christi’s 1959 Harbor Bridge center span will be lowered today in a multi-day process that ends its service as the new Harbor Bridge now carries traffic — the span will be floated by water to a dock between Portland and Ingleside as set by TxDOT, the Coast Guard, and the Port of Corpus Christi. - ➤ The VA program helps veterans with service-connected disabilities change their homes for better access—modifications include bathrooms with no steps, wider door areas, and ramps, and veterans must fill out VA Form 26-4555 and wait 30 to 90 days for review. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Corpus Christi’s colorful crosswalks at Six Points, Twigg Street and Shoreline Boulevard and on Peoples Street T-Head will be removed following a state order that bans non-standard markings; City Manager Peter Zanoni said removals must be completed within 30 days—failure to comply could result in a loss of state and federal funds, and downtown traffic signal cabinets will also be repainted at a cost of about $35,000. Removals are set to begin on Oct. 27 as the city aligns with similar actions in other Texas communities. Caller Times
