COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Coastal Bend Pregnancy Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Texas are featured in the Day of Giving spotlight—this initiative supports local nonprofits and highlights community efforts.  KIII-TV
  • Allison Zamzow, a seventh grader at Three Rivers Junior High, was chosen as an All-American Cheerleader to perform at Disney World Resort's Thanksgiving Day parade on November 24th. She has practiced her special routine and raised funds with community support—making her first trip to Disney World extra exciting.  KRIS 6 News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Walgreens at Weber and Holly will permanently close on December 9—marking the second local closure since October and advising customers to transfer prescriptions to other nearby pharmacies.  KRIS 6 News

  • Windsor Park has been named the state leader in reading, and principal Dr. Kimberly Bissell said the honor reflects the hard work of students, staff— and parents who helped make this achievement possible.  KIII-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A look at hurricanes in the Coastal Bend since 1919 shows how storms left marks on the area—changing local life over time.  Caller Times
  • A new report by the Environmental Integrity Project says Corpus Christi Liquefaction—a Cheniere Energy facility—is among the highest polluters in the U.S. LNG industry, releasing 3.3 million tons of greenhouse gases and 2,945 tons of air pollutants in 2023. Cheniere said it operates under strict regulations and is on track with facility expansions that are expected to complete in 2026.  Caller Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • San Patricio County mourns the loss of longtime Sheriff Leroy Moody, who served 55 years in law enforcement including 30 years as county sheriff before retiring in 2019. County Judge David Krebs called for a moment of silence at Monday's commissioners court meeting — funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov 19 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with a graveside at 1 p.m. at VA Cemetery.  KRIS 6 News
  • TxDOT's $64 million Port Aransas ferry upgrade project will remove a large crane today through November 6th, which will briefly close West Cotter Avenue and SH 361 — flaggers and law enforcement will manage the traffic. Port Aransas Ramp Two will be closed for up to 72 hours while ferry operations continue on three eastern ramps — a replacement crane will arrive later to resume work.  KRIS 6 News

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Roofing experts said homeowners should take photos and notes to document hail damage and file their insurance claims quickly after a severe hailstorm hit local coastal communities this weekend - contractors advise checking soft metals like gutters to confirm that damage is not from normal wear before repairs begin.  KIII-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • After Flour Bluff lost 19-10 to PSJA North last Thursday, they fell to a tie for second with Veterans Memorial while Sinton took the top spot ahead of a Friday rivalry match-up. Sinton will host Rockport-Fulton in the Game of the Week at 7 p.m. on Friday — the small school poll remains unchanged as teams have already secured district titles.  KIII-TV
