- ➤ Corpus Christi firefighters held a live demonstration to show the top dangers of frying turkey and teach families safe steps for Thanksgiving—advising everyone to follow proper guidelines. KIII-TV
- ➤ Harvest Tabernacle Church at 3101 McArdle Road will host a Thanksgiving festival on November 22 at 3 p.m. that offers free turkeys + a cash raffle in partnership with Kingdom Heirs Ministry. - ➤ Corpus Christi will host several holiday markets in November and December — events that bring local makers and food trucks together — with schedules including Peppermint Lane on Nov. 23, 30, Dec. 7 and 21, the Art Center on Dec. 3, 5, 10 and 17, Carroll High on Dec. 11, and Cotton Branch Farms on Dec. 13. - ➤ Chipotle Mexican Grill will open its new Corpus Christi location on November 26th with the city’s first Chipotlane drive-thru service at 6226 Saratoga Blvd, operating daily from 10:45 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant will offer limited-time menu items and a rewards program for college students + is hiring about 30 staff. - ➤ Jake Gerry of FreshGrown TX said a federal proposal to limit hemp products to 0.4 mg of THC per package—changing current 0.3% limits—will hurt farms and small businesses if adopted and may push customers toward unsafe alternatives; he urged people to share their concerns with local lawmakers. - ➤ Corpus Christi ISD is exploring the closure of seven schools—a mix of four elementary and three middle schools built between the 1940s and 1970—to address a $27.5 million budget deficit and aging facilities; no board decision was made for the Dec. 8 meeting while community input is scheduled for December and early January with affected students rezoning set to begin Aug. 2026. - ➤ Corpus Christi food truck owner Daniel Peña disputed a health inspector’s claim on November 5 that his detached barbecue pit broke city code by lacking overhead protection attached to his mobile unit. Peña, who has had his permit for three years, showed a photo of his cover while city officials said food trucks must follow Texas rules for safe outdoor cooking — including the needed overhead protection.
