Mathis High School FFA students transformed a storage room into a community closet called The Treasure Chest to offer free clothing, hygiene products, school supplies and food to anyone in need.

The project will open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.—donations can be dropped off at the high school's front office.

Coastal Bend Blood Center will host its 13th annual 'Hunting for Donors' blood drive as the need for donations rises during the holidays — the event is planned to support local blood supplies.

The Corpus Christi Islanders came back strong at the Dugan Center on Thursday, cutting a 21-point deficit to 6 before falling 53-43 to Texas State—head coach Toyelle Wilson said the team executed better in the second half.
