- ➤ Esperanza de Tejas is hosting holiday pop-up events — providing hygiene items and warm meals to those in need. Brianna Davis said the events will run soon. KIII-TV
- ➤ On Sunday, Herrman & Herrman’s law office on Third Street handed out more than 5,000 frozen turkeys to South Texas families during a drive-thru event—each vehicle received one turkey to help families in need this Thanksgiving amid ongoing economic challenges. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ The Caller-Times Children's Christmas Appeal is in its 52nd year and is raising funds to help South Texas families in need by partnering with United Way and local agencies — donations will support children in buying Christmas gifts despite a 45% decline last year, and the campaign runs until Christmas Eve. - ➤ On Domingo Live the Salvation Army of the Coastal Bend asked local residents to ring bells and donate to the Red Kettle campaign—a move to raise funds for essential community services. The organization expects these contributions to help support ongoing local programs. KIII-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Texas approved a school voucher program that will let families use state funds for private school tuition, home-school expenses, and tutoring starting in the 2026-27 school year. The Texas Education Freedom Account is still being designed and will use an online portal managed by Odyssey—applications open on Feb. 4 and run until mid-March, while local private and Catholic schools in Corpus Christi plan to apply.
