- ➤ More than a month after the Gregory cotton gin fire, families are still recovering while the United Way of the Coastal Bend established a recovery fund + it has raised over $40,000 to support those affected. KIII-TV
- ➤ The Diocese of Corpus Christi announced Bishop Mario Alberto Avilés as its new bishop on Dec. 1—he will replace Bishop Wm. Michael Mulvey who led since 2010. Avilés, who served as an auxiliary bishop in Brownsville, was ordained in 1998 and earned his degrees in Rome. Caller Times
- ➤ Local leaders, business owners, and youth advocates gathered Thursday at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds in Robstown for the first Inspiration Luncheon that showcased the value of mentorship and promoted men's health—Commissioner John Marez and youth boxing coach Jose 'Coach Joe' De La Paz shared how early guidance changed their lives—plans call for the event to be held twice a year to continue connecting local role models with young people. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Corpus Christi received a $46 million federal grant to build a new, state-of-the-art maintenance facility for CCRTA — only a few cities were chosen for such a grant. Officials say the project will protect buses from extreme weather and is expected to open within two years. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ An incident on base caused a brief lockdown at NAS-CC’s main gate on Monday morning—although authorities reopened the entrance later—and visitors experienced major delays when entering. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Corpus Christi officials launched Operation Heat Help to give up to $100 per household for winter natural gas bills from November through February 27; applicants meeting income guidelines will be served on a first-come—first-served basis to ease high winter heating costs. KRIS 6 News
- ➤ Traffic restrictions will start at 7 p.m. Dec. 3 at the busy SPID and Everhart Road intersection as crews begin a $29.3 million reconstruction project—weather permitting—and drivers will face no right turns from the SPID eastbound frontage to southbound Everhart Road and no left turns from the SPID westbound frontage; officials advise using alternate routes to avoid congestion. The phased work, now in its second stage, will continue until March 2026 to improve traffic flow and upgrade water infrastructure. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ The Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation in partnership with Gilead Sciences has kicked off a week-long event for World AIDS Day 2025 — featuring a community photo event with the AIDS Memorial Quilt and a remembrance ceremony on Wednesday at 6 p.m. that will honor lives lost and promote awareness.
