- ➤ Newlyweds warn local pet owners to thoroughly vet boarding facilities after their one-year-old doodle died from injuries at a lodge near Calallen on their wedding day. They filed a report with authorities as the investigation continues. KIII-TV
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Texas State Aquarium is opening the Ocean Odyssey Children's Discovery Center in a former movie theater to let kids play with exhibits and learn about coastal wildlife. The interactive space, featuring a submarine simulation + play areas, will open in April 2026 to offer a new family-friendly experience. KRIS 6 News

- ➤ Crews in Ingleside began clearing 200 acres for a planned 20M-barrel oil storage facility at the long-abandoned Humble Oil site. Construction will roll out over the next five to seven years. KIII-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Corpus Christi ISD is considering closing several schools before the 2026-27 school year as officials gather community feedback—residents have shared their opinions. Caller Times
- ➤ Nueces County school districts have set their winter break schedules for December and January. Corpus Christi ISD ends classes on Dec. 19 with break starting Dec. 22 and students returning Jan. 7, while other districts plan early releases and livestock show breaks. Caller Times
- ➤ Del Mar College will offer a revised Freedom to Dream tuition waiver for local full-time students in fall 2026. The new program covers up to 60 credit hours for associate degrees and includes a pilot for continuing education courses (for workforce training) while marketing begins in spring. Caller Times
- ➤ A DCH plastic surgeon credited quick CPR for saving her two sons and spurred the donation of 10 CPR training kits to CCISD so students can learn lifesaving skills today. The donation is set to boost preparedness across local schools. KIII-TV
