COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Santa will be onboard the USS Lexington this Saturday for a pancake breakfast — including photos, a Grinch screening, and a scavenger hunt — to offer festive family fun.  KIII-TV
  • On Dec. 15, the Caller-Times Children's Christmas Appeal told the story of Lynette and her three children who moved from shelter to shelter to escape an abusive home. The campaign—supported by local agencies—seeks donations for winter clothes and gifts to brighten the holiday.  Caller Times
  • Santa arrived by Gulfstream jet with a police escort while Mrs. Claus followed by helicopter to deliver over 1,000+ toys at Wyatt Ranches, spreading holiday cheer in the community.  KIII-TV
  • Santa surprised every student by delivering toys + spreading festive cheer at Flour Bluff Primary School during a holiday concert that brightened the season.  KIII-TV
  • Westside locals gathered today at Hi-Ho Restaurant to honor Abraham Quintanilla, with owner Ricardo Garcia sharing his last memory of him and fans recalling visits to Selena's favorite table. The community came together to remember his lasting cultural impact.  KRIS 6 News
  • Coastal Bend organizations are hosting Christmas toy drives and festive holiday events this December. Donations can be dropped off at designated centers such as Children's Advocacy Center + Kingsville PD, while community members can join scheduled pickups and giveaways on Dec. 19, Dec. 21, and Dec. 28.  KRIS 6 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • London ISD purchased 40 acres along County Road 20A on Monday for a potential new school campus amid rising enrollment (the district plans to seek voter approval before construction, which may not begin until 2027).  Caller Times
  • Baker Middle School hosted CCISD's first Spanish spelling bee on Monday, giving students the chance to advance to the regional and national contests. Dr. Pamela Carrillo (a specialist in World Languages) said bilingual skills will open valuable career opportunities.  KRIS 6 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TxDOT denied a request to keep two decorative crosswalks after Gov. Greg Abbott's statewide safety directive forced their removal - local groups had favored keeping the colorful designs. The removal will proceed as planned.  KIII-TV
  • Corpus Christi Water is urging residents to winterize their plumbing by wrapping outdoor pipes, disconnecting hoses, covering faucets, and draining irrigation systems during cooler months to avoid burst pipes if temperatures fall below freezing later — officials will update the public via news releases and social media.  KIII-TV
  • Aransas Pass contractor Tom Collins finished extensive repairs after a sewer overflow damaged a home but said the city refused to pay his $125,522.13 bill and warned that unresolved payment may force him to seek legal help — leading to extra fees.  KRIS 6 News
