  • Hundreds gathered on Tuesday at Church Unlimited’s Westside Mission on Mueller Street—near Leopard and Upriver Road—to receive over 2,000 gifts and essentials from more than 300 volunteers during the annual Angel Tree giveaway.  KRIS 6 News
  • The Pan American Golf Association’s Christmas party for West Oso ISD students returns today at Rooster’s Beer Garden on Horne and Barrera Drive — Santa and his elves hand out gifts as the event revives a cherished tradition after a five-year pause with support from Texas Bridge Credit Union.  KRIS 6 News
  • A Rockport fisherman saw a dolphin stuck in shallow water in Aransas Bay and called for help, which led to a safe rescue today.  KIII-TV
  • Corpus Christi volunteers have many ways to help this holiday season at local animal shelters, food distribution events & community support services.   • Parents of a Gregory-Portland High School student demand more transparency after an October bathroom fight left their son with a mild concussion, while the school district says disciplinary actions were taken per its policies.  KRIS 6 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Holiday shoppers stretching their budgets now use buy now, pay later options plus cash and credit, with some stores offering a pay-in-four system that sends reminder emails. This flexible payment method helps manage expenses during the busy season.  KRIS 6 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Families of children with disabilities will be able to apply in the spring for the voucher program offering up to $30,000 if they secure a licensed evaluation (required even for private school students). CCISD is already reporting a sharp rise in such evaluation requests.  Caller Times
  • The UIL announced new realignment cutoffs for the next two years with London moving to 4A Division II and Sinton to 3A Division I. Corpus Christi ISD schools such as Miller, King and Moody shift to 4A Division I — official sports districts will be released in February.  Caller Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Padre Island Madre captured a common octopus along the shore today, giving Corpus Christi residents a firsthand look at local marine wildlife.  KIII-TV
  • Corpus Christi Solid Waste Services urges residents to sort holiday waste by placing cardboard, paper, and plastic in blue carts and dropping off live Christmas trees at the J.C. Elliott Transfer Station between Dec. 26-Jan. 31 - residents can also use the CC Recycles app for collection schedules.  KIII-TV

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Jolly, a one-year-old cream and white lab mix, is the KRIS 6 Pet of the Week at the local animal care services and loves playing outdoors in the shelter yard. At the shelter since Dec. 6, she is available for adoption Monday through Saturday (12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.).  KRIS 6 News
