  • Corpus Christi IceRays will host Pucks and Paws Night on Sunday, Dec. 28 at 5 p.m. at the American Bank Center Coliseum when fans get free admission by donating dog supplies (a blanket, unopened dog food, or treats); the first 150 canine guests receive complimentary bandanas.  KRIS 6 News
  • Debra and Rodney Eulenfeld (Corpus Christi residents) held their third annual toy drive on Wednesday by donating toys and clothes to (Ronald McDonald House) in memory of their granddaughter Morgan, who died from brain cancer, and they urge local residents to donate if they missed the event.  KRIS 6 News

  • Firefighters quickly contained a vehicle fire near Chick-fil-A at 9601 South Padre Island Drive, preventing damage to the restaurant and keeping it open (no injuries were reported).  KRIS 6 News

  • Sprouts Farmers Market will close its Airline Road store on Jan 7, 2026 as it relocates to Island Gate Plaza at 4717 S. Padre Island Drive, with a ribbon cutting at 6:45 a.m. and a 7 a.m. store opening on Jan 9 plus tastings and giveaways during the grand opening.  Caller Times
  • Shoppers at La Palmera Mall returned holiday gifts early to avoid crowds, and RetailMeNot says that in-person returns save fees and speed up exchanges.  KIII-TV

  • Visit CC representatives Leslie Adami and Brook Kaufman say renewed efforts to revive film and TV production in Corpus Christi could bring movie-making back—boosting local culture and creating job opportunities in future projects.  KIII-TV

  • Corpus Christi will soon form a far-field advisory committee to guide an expanded environmental study on the proposed Inner Harbor seawater desalination plant; the group, which includes experts and community members, is expected to be finalized by Jan. 2.  Caller Times
  • Corpus Christi Solid Waste Services urges residents to recycle right after the holidays by sorting items like cardboard, paper, and plastic per provided guidelines; live Christmas trees (J.C.   • Dr. Anita Kurian is named the new public health director for Corpus Christi-Nueces County and brings decades of urban health experience to benefit Coastal Bend communities. Her appointment was announced today.  KIII-TV

  • Beachgoers traded jackets for shorts on Dec. 26 in Port Aransas as warm post-Christmas weather drew families to the beach for sunshine + waves.  KIII-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • Corpus Christi is hosting its first Boston qualifying marathon this weekend as it welcomes over 1,000 runners. The event starts Saturday with a 5K and expo at the Hilliard Center and continues Sunday at 7 a.m. with races running past Heritage Park (including Whataburger Field, Leopard Street, and Ocean Drive).  KRIS 6 News
