- ➤ Today, Texas DPS started Operation CARE to boost highway safety over the holiday weekend as officers will target speeders, suspected drunk drivers and those ignoring traffic laws—last year's efforts issued nearly 60,000 warnings and citations, including over 5,000 for speeding and more than 200 for DWI. - ➤ Corpus Christi Housing Authority was notified by the Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool that its insurance will not be renewed after October 1 due to concerns over controversial public-private tax-exempt deals affecting $350 million in local housing.
